Azerbaijan has been the birthplace of national games since ancient times. According to the information in the book "Avesta", which is considered sacred by the ancient Azerbaijanis, the history of participation in knightly competitions, courage, wrestling, horse racing, wrestling, archery dates back to ancient times.The emergence of physical education and sports in Azerbaijan since ancient times, increasing the development of physical education has been aimed at protecting the homeland and strengthening health. A detailed description of the national sports games of Azerbaijan is given in the manuscript "Ahvali-Karabakh", stored in the Institute of Manuscripts of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. In the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, they were engaged in throwing spears and arrows, playing with swords, wrestling and wrestling. In the Middle Ages, the game of chevken began to develop in Karabakh.At the initiative of the British, this game was first included in the program of the II Olympic Games, held in Paris in 1890, under the name "polo", and thus this name was established in Western civilization. Polo, which has been part of the Olympic program several times, was last played at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.
