The study of foreign languages teaches and cultivates respect for other peoples: it helps to understand the relationship between language and human nature. Foreign languages expand a person's worldview, liberalize his experience, and make a person more flexible and resilient. Learning foreign languages is becoming a serious problem in the global world. One of the reasons why people learn foreign languages is economic development. Foreign languages are seen as an economic commodity in the industrial world because people from different countries and cultures come together to share different skills and knowledge in the workplace.
Age is believed to be an important factor in language acquisition. Students in adolescence or the critical period may learn a language faster than adults. But this case is not entirely true. Learning a language at a young age does not guarantee that they will be successful in language learning. Many facts and studies show that older people learn languages better. This may be another factor affecting language acquisition. Motivation is the most important key to language acquisition. It doesn't matter if they study at a young age or at an older age. As long as they have the motivation to learn, they will be successful in mastering the language. Therefore, English teachers must create an effective and innovative method in the process of teaching and learning in order to increase the motivation of students.
