CAUSATIVITY IN SPORTS TEXTS

Abstract

In English causatives are used in the objective participal and infinitive constructions which correspond to the obligatory type of the verb in the Azerbaijani language. The doer of the action is unknown in this type of construction, the action is performed by someone else. In causative constructions the subject doesn't act as the performer of the action, but acts as its initiator. On the other hand, the causativity also indicates the cause of the stimulus.

Causative verbs perform two functions at the same time, as they create a connection between the object and the subject, on the other hand, they change the quality and form of the object affected. Using sports lexics causativity is investigated in the article.
