A STUDY OF THE FACTORS RESTRICTING THE AZERBAIJAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM’S PARTICIPATION IN WORLD COMPETITIONS AND THEIR WAYS TO OVERCOME THEM

Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors that limit the participation of the Azerbaijan National Football Team in world competitions and explore the ways to overcome these barriers. The study identifies key issues such as financial constraints, lack of infrastructure and weak development of local football talent. In addition, aspects such as the lack of international experience, limited experience in high-level competitions, as well as problems with the development of youth academies and grassroots football programs are highlighted. The study is based on current data, interviews with football experts and an analysis of football governance and sports policy in the country. The results show that comprehensive reforms are needed to address these barriers, such as increasing investment in infrastructure and coaching staff, improving youth development programs, and strengthening cooperation with international football organizations. The study concludes with practical recommendations to improve the competitiveness of Azerbaijani football on the world stage.
