CLASSIFICATION OF HOMONYMS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract

The article discusses the homonyms of the English language and their classification. Many famous linguists have tried to define and classify homonyms in English. The phenomenon of homonymy, which is characteristic of all languages, is widespread in English due to the many borrowings. Throughout the history of its development, the English language has undergone and continue to undergo linguistic changes associated with the phenomenon of homonymy.
