HISTORY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF ZURKHANEH AND NATIONAL WRESTLING IN AZERBAIJAN

Abstract

This article discusses the history of origin and evolution of the zoorkhaneh sport style within Azerbaijan territory, also its similarities and differences with the Iranian zoorkhaneh. The article reflects the traditional features of conducting zoorkhaneh training, describes sport equipment and the structure of exercises performed with their help. The influence of exercises to wrestlers’ not only physical, but also ethical qualities are noted as well.
