The article deals with the motivated strategies in the usage of linguistic materials in developing intercultural competence in ELT. The process of teaching English should be based on the communicative – functional approach. The whole process should be goal-oriented and systematic. It will make the process more effective. While analyzing great attention was given to the facts taken from the literature. One of the important goals of the article is to determine and find out the linguistic backgrounds of intercultural competence in ELT. The author emphasizes its role in methodlogy. Since its emergence, this notion caught the attention and new researches appeared.
