This article examines short-term and long-term negative effects of armed conflicts and wars on education, educational institutions, and participants of the educational process (teaching staff, students and parents). Wars frequently result in loss of academic staff, destruction of schools, cutting of education costs, loss of educational function of families for their children against their will, obstacles to returning to education, and psychological trauma. These results are a clear indication of the loss of human rights, especially an important right to effective education.
